Hello and welcome to summer! Today, I\u2019m getting started with the\u00a0Palomar Tank pattern<\/a>, designed by Aubrey Busek\u2014a perfect tank top for the summer heat! I\u2019m casting on in\u00a0UNIVERSAL YARN Bella Tweed in \u201cCare\u201d<\/a>\u00a0colorway, and it\u2019s an ideal yarn for this top. It\u2019s a blend of recycled cotton and other fibres, which makes it perfect for a light summer top. I wanted to mention that the Bella Tweed has a few tiny white neps, likely from the cotton. I think they give the yarn a bit of character and make it even more appealing! Overall, I\u2019m really enjoying it!<\/p>\n

As for the knitting needles I chose\u2026well, there\u2019s a teeny bit of a saga.<\/p>\n

The Palomar Tank calls for two needle sizes, and I choose the gorgeous\u00a0Knit Picks Rainbow Wood Straight Needles<\/a>\u00a0for both:\u00a03.75mm needles<\/a>\u00a0for the ribbing, and\u00a04mm needles<\/a>\u00a0for the main body of the top. They\u2019re 14 inches long, which I prefer, and that made them wonderful to work with on a project like this, but it is difficult to get the full length of the needle into the camera frame when trying to take photos!<\/p>\n

The Palomar Tank pattern also calls for double-pointed needles for the armholes and neckline. I opted for a beautiful set of\u00a0KnitPro Ginger Double-Pointed needles<\/a>, as well as a set of\u00a0Knit Picks Rainbow Cable Needles<\/a>\u00a0for the cable pattern on the front and back of the top.<\/p>\n
