Our Story
Welcome to Notes and Novels with Miss Ngwane
At Notes and Novels, learning goes beyond the classroom. It is an exploration of language, literature, and self expression.
Founded by Siphumelele Ngwane, an English Home Language and History Teacher with over 6 years of teaching experience, this plaform is dedicated to helping learners reach their full potential through engaging, creative, and meaningful study.
With experience spanning both high and tertiary education, Siphumelele combines her academic background in English Literature, Classical Civilizations, and History with her passion for the written word to make English and History accessible, relatable, and inspiring. Her approach focuses on nurturing confidence, critical thinking, and authentic understanding, thus encouraging learners to connect what they learn to the world around them.
At the heart of Notes and Novels is a belief that every student deserves a stimulating, inclusive, and supportive environment where they can grow mentally, emotionally, and academically. Whether through exam preparation, essay support, or creative enrichment, Siphumeleles goal is to help learners not only excel in their studies but also discover the joy of language and heritage by discovering the power of their own voice.
Miss Ngwane
Hello there! I am currently an English Home Language teacher at an IEB independent school, having previously taught English Home Language a semi-private boys’ high school, after spending 2 years lecturing English FAL within the DHET sector at a TVET college at the start of my teaching career.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and classical Civilisations and a PGCE specialising in English Home Language and History at FET level, and i consider ,myself an avid bibliophile with strong interests in literature, history, drama, and performing arts. Alongside teaching, i actively pursue opportunities in writing, reviewing, copywriting, transcribing, and creative work in order to engage fully with both my academic training and creative strengths.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that all learners deserve a stimulating, inclusive, and safe educational environment where they can grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, regardless f background. I strive to create classrooms that value diverse learning styles, (even online) encourage critical thinking and risk-taking, and make learning meaningful through relevant content, collaboration, and varied, learner-centred teaching strategies.
